Dementia Carers Group

21 August 2020

Guideposts is running a monthly virtual Dementia Carers Group. The group was set up to support carers and people who have family or friends living with dementia. As well as those whose family members are at risk of developing the condition or who are just interested in finding out more.

The group is to help raise awareness, give information and support people whose lives are impacted by dementia. You can expect information and support from Guideposts staff and other carers as well as friendliness and humour too!

The meetings take place over Zoom so anybody can join us – whether you already use Guideposts’ services or have never been involved with us. And thanks to Zoom you can live anywhere in the world. In fact we’ve welcomed someone all the way from windy Chicago!

When and Where?

Join us on the first Thursday of every month at 3pm.

Anyone can join the Zoom meeting, but you need to get in touch with Lin Fellows for the meeting ID and password. Please email Lin on or call 07803 175416.

The Next Meeting

The next meeting will take place on Thursday 3rd September at 3pm

We will be joined by special guest speaker John Killick who will speak on the subject ‘tell it like it is’.

John has previously worked at the Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling where he researched the role of communication through art activities and dementia. He is interested in how humour, drama and plays can open up communication.

John has published several books, mostly about dementia and poetry. He creates poems from the words of people living with dementia to reveal their inner world.
