More Friendship 4 All is a friendship scheme supported by the Big Lottery Fund.
The Scheme runs in:
- Hertfordshire – East Herts and Broxbourne, Welwyn and Hatfield, Hertsmere, Watford and Three Rivers
- Essex- Epping Forest, Harlow District, Uttlesford
Activities include for example :
• One-to-one befriending– the Friendship Scheme co-ordinator arranges for volunteers to form a friendship with an adult who has learning disabilities. With the support of our co-ordinator, volunteer befrienders share a little bit of their leisure time with their friend and support them to get out and about, use local leisure and social facilities and have a fuller social life. The activities they might do together could include: playing pool or darts in the pub, theatre trips, shopping or lunch in town, going to gigs, country walks and so much more.
• Social Groups –
Friendship 4 All organise varied group activities and events during which the
scheme members meet with friends and make new friends. Activities include, for
example, canal boat trips, archery, bowling evenings, pub meals, trips to
London etc. These activities are organised at least once a month and are
supported by community volunteers.
• Local Connect Groups –
Friendship 4All supports adults with learning disabilities living in the same
locality to meet regularly with friends in the community.
