Caring at Christmas Campaign 2
Dementia can be difficult over Christmas.
Can you help?
Christmas should be a time of joy, but for people with dementia and their loved ones it can be hard.
Donating just £5 today could go towards making someone’s life a little less lonely, by supplying a dementia support session with tea and coffee.
“We love coming here. We have some tension at home, but when we are here we can just relax. There is such a difference in my husband, I have noticed he is much stronger and brighter.
It’s down to CONNECT, I am sure of it. I can see he enjoys being able to meet up with people. There are lots of carers here, me included, who benefit hugely from coming to such a group, otherwise we are so lonely.”
Mary, CONNECT group member
How your help makes a difference
Carers attending our CONNECT groups often describe how they feel lost, on the edge of health and care services looking in, and having no clue where to go to secure help.
Guideposts’ professionally trained staff work with individual carers to navigate through a confusing array of potential sources of help, tackling their practical concerns as well as isolation and loneliness.
There is limited support of this nature available – if you are in crisis you have somewhere to go, but the preventative, day-to-day support is harder to come by.
We are committed to continuing and increasing this provision.
Thank you for making it possible.
Your support enables this much needed support for carers.
Such vital work wouldn’t be possible without you and we would be grateful for any gift you are able to give this Christmas. The difference your support makes for carers really is life-changing.
With warmest thanks and Christmas wishes from everyone at Guideposts.
