Guideposts Academy offers courses to help people with disabilities acquire essential life skills, while enhancing their confidence and independence.
The courses can bring recognised qualifications, and help promotes personal, social, and employability skills among learners of all ages.

About Guideposts Academy
Guideposts Academy offers a range of short courses for adults with a learning disability in many different subjects and skills. You can choose a subject that interests you, or with skills that you would like to improve. The courses are modular, meaning that they can be taken in small amounts and build up to a bigger qualification.
The courses can lead to bronze, silver, or gold accredited ASDAN qualifications.
What courses are there?
Food Skills: This course will take you from the basics, to making a full meal, learning delicious, healthy recipes from planning to washing up!
Expressive Arts Skills: Set your creativity free with inspiration from the local environment.
Life Skills: Get confident by learning independent living skills from travelling to budgeting.
Gardening Skills Enjoy growing plants, nature crafts and the benefits of being in nature.
All these courses are 15 weeks long.

Who can we support?
We support adults who have a mild to moderate learning disability, or autism. Our staff are trained to work with a range of additional needs including sight, hearing and mobility limitations.

If you would like to learn new skills, pursue your interests, or work towards being able to live independently or to get a job, we can help you ..

How to join?
Please get in touch if you’re interested in joining a course with Guideposts Academy, or if you’d like to ask any questions. We work with local County Councils and can take referrals from social workers and other care providers.
We’ll get in touch to arrange a time to meet or talk on the phone, and we you may be able to come and meet the team before the course starts.
If we decide together that this would be the right course for you, we’ll then work with you on a support plan and set some goals to make the most of your time with us.
