Guideposts @ The Albion

Guideposts at The Albion offers a range of social and skill-based activities for adults with learning disabilities and related conditions in Chipping Norton.

Alongside activities to improve life skills and wellbeing, including cooking, fitness, craft and music, we also go on trips in the local area.

Current Status: Guideposts is excited to be the new service provider at The Albion Centre. We are enjoying getting to know the service members and staff team.

How Guideposts @ The Albion works

Our Learning Activity Service sessions at The Albion run Monday-Friday from 9am to 12 midday and 12.30pm to 3.30pm, and people can attend for full or half days.

We offer a wide menu of opportunities and activities that members can choose from to ensure their days are busy, enjoyable and productive. While many sessions take place in The Albion Centre, we enjoy strong links in the community and often visit local places of interest.

Everyone who uses the service has a say in what activities are planned so we try to cater to everyone’s interests and aspirations.

What activities are on offer?

Our activities can include:

  • Music and singing
  • Art and crafts
  • Drama and storytelling
  • Sports, fitness and dance
  • Supported IT use
  • Wood-working to create garden ornaments, planters and furniture for sale
  • Working towards independent living: shopping, cooking, money management, safe use of public transport.
  • Outings and trips to various local places of interest (e.g. Blenheim Palace, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Fairytale Farm)
Thumbs up from GLADS

Who can we support?

We currently support individuals with learning disabilities and associated physical disabilities, mental health support needs and autistic spectrum disorder, working with variable staff ratios depending on the needs of each person to enable all to take part.

Our experienced staff are trained in managing challenging behaviour and can de-escalate people showing signs of anxiety and stress
