Looking for dementia-friendly activities to do from home? This guide covers all of the free resources you can access, as well as who to turn to if you need support or someone to talk to.

With many dementia charities now unable to deliver face-to-face activities, a number of organisations have made their activity resources free to use at home.

The Daily Sparkle

The Daily Sparkle is a reminiscence-based newspaper that is now publishing a free daily version, which can be received by email. 

The Storybox project

During the coronavirus pandemic The Storybox project have made their resources available for free. They allow you to interact creatively with someone with dementia and help improve their confidence and self-esteem.

  • Select a theme (such as Sport, Events etc.) or a decade (1930s, 1940s etc.)

  • A set of magazines by the National Activity Providers Association, currently for free during the coronavirus pandemic 
  • Each magazine is packed with activity ideas and recipes to try out 

Music For Dementia

  • A calendar of singing groups you can join that are dementia-friendly
  • Some singing groups are not able to run during the lockdown, but many on the list are now labelled “ONLINE” and running virtually via videolink

Playlist for life – 100 Years: A Century of Song

  • Playlist For Life is an organisation which promotes reminiscence activites through music
  • 100 Years: A Century of Song is a free book you can download, chapter by chapter. Each chapter covers a decade in music from the last 100 and looks at which records were number 1 in the UK each year.
