Who can benefit?

Children and young people

The equipment is great for children to aid the development of visual, auditory, and tactile processing and it helps the development of hand-eye coordination, gross and fine motor skills, and self-regulation.

Adults with learning disabilities

Some adults have a difficult time communicating both verbally and non-verbally. This is especially true for those with autism. A sensory room that provides interactive activities can help these individuals learn skills that will help them engage and communicate with their peers by:

  • Reducing stress
  • Improving the ability to focus
  • Encouraging socialisation
  • Providing mental and physical relaxation

People living with dementia

For people living with dementia, engaging all the senses keeps the brain focussed on the stimulation, alleviating anxiety, and frustration.  This helps reduce the stress of dementia and other conditions that cause memory loss.

For everyone

Everyone can find that a sensory room can provide them with a needed space in which to relax.  Anyone who is dealing with a difficult situation in their personal life or are experiencing some sort of physical ailment can benefit from the calming effects of a sensory room and it can provide a therapeutic break.
