Our Dig ‘n’ Grow service runs day sessions every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10am to 4pm.

You will be able to choose what you would like to do in each session and our staff will provide specific support that meets your individual needs.

There is, of course, no pressure to do things you don’t want to do while at Dig’n’Grow. In fact, you might be very surprised at the results, if you give it a chance!

Garden to Wellbeing Courses

We are currently offering shorter courses at Dig’n’Grow. Over 6 weeks spend Monday or Thursday mornings at our Outdoor Wellbeing, learn new skills, and help yourself to better wellbeing.

Get in touch if you’re interested in joining us!

What activities are on offer?

We have a rolling programme of seasonal activities – even in the winter months.

A session might include:

  • Planting and growing bulbs, flowers, veg or herbs
  • Sowing seeds, pricking out, potting on
  • Woodwork, willow weaving and crafts
  • Health walks and trips out
  • Seasonal celebrations; watering, dead-heading, general plant care
  • Composting, weeding, pruning, digging
  • Soft wood, hard wood & root cuttings
  • Cooking garden produce.

Who can we support?

We currently support adults with special needs, disabilities and mental health issues but also provide spaces for young adults and adults who would like to develop their confidence, self-esteem, social skills and skills around the garden.

We work with variable staff ratios depending on the needs of each person, to enable all to take part.

Why should I join?

The benefits of just being outdoors, and near nature, can be quite surprising. Research suggests that ‘Biophilia’, the bond between humans and nature, produces surprising results, and is one of the best ways to relax, de-stress and feel a sense of wholeness.

If you enjoy the outdoors and want to increase your confidence, Guideposts Dig’n’Grow provides the perfect place to build your skills – and make lasting friendships on the way.

“Since James has been attending Dig ‘n’ Grow he has benefited in many ways. He strongly connects with the vocational side of things, he is proud to be doing a job that helps others. He’s also improved his dexterity and coordination through his gardening work.

Perhaps more importantly, James has developed personal and professional relationships; friendships he might otherwise not have made without the close and positive community found through Dig ‘n’ Grow.”
