Bursary Fund
Guideposts Bursary Fund is for service users in particular times of hardship. It may pay for transport to reach vital appointments or services when they are unable to; help to buy a cooker for someone when they don’t have means to cook; or similar crucial items.
A place to go when there is nowhere else to turn.
Living with a disability, a mental health condition, or dementia – or caring for someone in any of these groups – makes a big difference to a person’s finances, both through extra costs incurred, and their ability to earn through employment. For many people, it brings them to living close to or below the poverty line.
It makes them particularly vulnerable to economic fluctuations, and an unexpected cost can be a huge crisis. For example, the failure of a washing machine that is needed on a daily basis to care for someone who has incontinence, or finding that an essential health appointment is only available far from home, requiring an expensive travel ticket, would lead to despair for many.
Through providing bursaries, we can make these occasions less of a crisis, preventing it from impacting further on the person’s anxiety, health, and wellbeing.
The Bursary Fund is made possible through donations from our generous supporter community. We are extremely grateful for all contributions, however large or small. If you are able to make a donation, together we can help more people facing particular hardship. Thank you.
