Creative Art Volunteer – Stroud Hub

Job Title: Creative Art Volunteer

Location: Stroud

Hours: 10am to 12.30, 12.30-3pm or 10am to 3pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our popular Community Hub in Stroud. If you are looking for a role that’s taps into your energy and motivates you, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

The Community Hub is a place where adults with learning disabilities can come together to make friends, have fun, learn new skills, gain confidence and feel involved in their local community.

We are seeking volunteers to join our Creative Art team on Mondays and Thursdays.

We are looking for a creative, friendly person who is able to encourage and support adults who have learning disabilities to discover their inner artist and crafting ability.

You will work with and be supported by our experienced staff team working with small groups of adults who have mild to moderate learning disabilities in a relaxed social environment.

You will receive:

Community Hub Activity Volunteer – Stroud Hub

Job Title: Community Hub Activity Volunteer

Location: Stroud

Hours: 10am to 3pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our popular Community Hub in Stroud. If you are looking for a role that’s taps into your energy and motivates you, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

In particular we would like to hear from you if you like topical discussions and activities such as; sport, music, computer games, bowling, vehicles, etc, to enable you to engage with our Hub members who have an interest in topics and activities like these.

The Community Hub is a place where adults with learning disabilities can come together to make friends, have fun, learn new skills, gain confidence and feel involved in their local community.

We are looking for volunteers to join our team on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays (same day each week).

You will need to be a friendly, energetic person who is confident in supporting adults who have learning disabilities. You will work with and be supported by our experienced staff team working with small groups of adults who have mild to moderate learning disabilities with a focus on getting out and about in the community and developing their skills and knowledge.

You will receive:

  • Training
  • Paid expenses
  • Lunch (depending on the activity)
  • Working with a friendly, experienced team
  • Opportunities to take part in trips and events organised by the Hub

People Person Volunteer – Various locations

Job title: People Person Volunteer

Hours: 2.5 hours between 10.00am and 1.00pm

Location: options local to you

  • Whitminster (nr Stroud) – alternate Thursdays
  • Farmers Club (Gloucester) – alternate Thursdays
  • Wheatpieces (Tewkesbury) – alternate Wednesdays
  • Community Hub (Stroud Centre) – alternate Wednesdays
  • Charfield (nr Wotton)

Befriender Volunteer – Various locations

Job Title:                Befriender Volunteer

Location:                Gloucester, Stroud, Dursley, Wotton, the Severn Vale and all

surrounding areas.

Hours of work:       Various part time between 9am to 5pm Mon to Fri

Salary:                   Voluntary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our brand-new Befriending for Wellbeing service. If you are a friendly people person looking for a role that’s taps into your energy and motivation to help people to be their happiest, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

You will need:

  • A friendly nature and enjoy being a people person
  • An inclusive attitude to people of all ages and backgrounds
  • An ability to engage people in social conversation or activities
  • Ability to take the initiative and be confident in a 1:1 role with individuals
  • Flexible availability or ability to commit to 2 hours minimum every week  
  • A person-centred approach with those you befriend
  • To be reliable and enthusiastic

Allotment Volunteer – Wotton Under Edge, New Road Allotments

Location: Wotton Under Edge, New Road allotment

Hours: Various – in line with allotment needs and group use

Salary: voluntary

It’s a social opportunity for a cuppa, conversation and laughs, with the well known benefits of gardening when the group meets at the allotment.

Are you a people person who enjoys conversation and laughs with others?

Do you have an interest or skills in growing fruit, vegetables or flowers for cutting (and weeding of course)?

Do you have some regular spare time?

If so, this opportunity could be perfect for you

We are seeking volunteers, on a rota basis, to:

  • Share skills and knowledge about gardening with local Dementia CONNECTions group members to help them reap the rewards and enjoyment of allotment gardening
  • Help plan planting and harvesting to make the most of the allotment
  • Keep the allotment tidy and weed free
  • Keep the allotment watered regularly

You will receive:

  • Training (e.g. health & safety, safeguarding)
  • Paid expenses  
  • Working with a friendly, experienced team
  • Opportunities to be part of a social network with others who enjoy gardening
