Finance Assistant – Witney

Guideposts is currently looking for a Finance Assistant based at our Witney office.

Up to 20 hours per week (Monday to Friday, flexible hours and days will be considered)

£18,000 – £22,000 FTE (based on skills & experience)

Our support function plays an important part in the smooth running of our team. As Finance Assistant you will process transactions and produce timely and accurate financial information for the Charity.

We are seeking an organised and methodical person to provide financial support for the team. You will have good attention to detail and be either training towards AAT or have a basic understanding of book-keeping. We would expect you to be able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of excel.

This is an exciting and challenging role which covers a wide variety of financial tasks and also offers opportunity for growth and development over time.

You will:

  • Check and process purchase invoices, credits, and purchase orders.
  • Be responsible for processing staff expenses and our corporate credit and purchasing cards ensuring these are processed timely and coded accurately.
  • Set up vendor and customer accounts and reconciling to supplier statements
  • Process bank entries on our bank and petty cash accounts
  • Record, process and bank cash and cheques
  • Reconcile bank, petty cash, and sub ledger accounts
  • Raise/import sales invoices, process the various other income streams and reconcile these to sub ledger income reports
  • Assist with payroll processing
  • Update and maintain the fixed assets register and reconcile to the general ledger

You will assist with the Charity’s credit control procedures and processes and ensure credit control is performed effectively and kept up to date.

You will work with local offices to provide support to staff and ensure that information is timely & consistent with our financial procedures.  

We are looking for someone who demonstrates values in line with those of the Charity’s, works well in a team, has a good eye for detail, works to a high standard of excellence and is able to manage deadlines.

We use Exchequer payroll and accounting systems so knowledge of these and other accounting systems would be an advantage – but not essential as on the job training will be given.

Community Mental Health Service Manager – Watford

Community Mental Health Service Manager

Salary: £28,000 – £30,000

Location: Watford (and surrounding area)

Our Mental Health Service in Watford has been successfully supporting the community for over 25 years. The Henry Smith House service offers both building based and outreach services to individuals with Mental Health conditions in Watford and the surrounding areas.

At Henry Smith House we work with individuals who have a Mental Health diagnosis and other complex needs, we follow the ethos of the Recovery Model of Support by engaging with individuals in developing their skills to manage their own mental wellbeing and enabling them to achieve independence and move on.  

Purpose of the role:

The Community Mental Health Support Manager will work closely with our Hertfordshire Commissioning Partners (including HPFT, Colne House, CCG’s and GP’s) and the CEO, the Head of Community Operations and the Trustee/s responsible for mental health services, in the preview of the current clinical model of delivery and service development to meet the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the current and any new Hertfordshire County Council commissioned contracts.

The Community Mental Health Support Manager role requires a high level of professionalism, strong leadership, and excellent organisational and management skills. You must be able to coordinate and oversee the provision of a range of community mental health support services in line with contractual KPIs. You will also need to have a good understanding of the range of clinical models preferred by the NHS and Commissioners.

Duties and responsibilities:

To manage the provision of the community mental health support services contracts and ensure that all KPIs are met by:

  • Capacity planning (rota planning of staff and volunteers for one to one and group support), and monitoring throughout cases
  • Ensuring that paid and volunteer staff adhere to the standards of mental health support practice and case management
  • Ensuring that staff/counsellors are inducted on the use of respective Patient Database systems and adhering to the electronic record keeping policy and information governance requirements
  • A proactive approach in project planning, delivering on targets, case management supervision and taking responsibility for understanding and disseminating service information related to target areas and the service’s key performance indicators
  • Ensuring that staff follow correct guidelines for managing client waiting lists and placing them in appropriate support
  • Recruiting and inducting all staff and volunteers in line with Guidepost’s policies and procedures and recruitment criteria
  • Organising and delivery of periodic training workshops for staff according to service needs and to promote team building as part of CPD requirements (continuous professional development)
  • Ensuring that the service is operating to full capacity in order to meet performance target levels as well as planning for and managing allocations/waiting lists
  • Work closely with the leadership team and contribute towards discussions around operational and clinical matters
  • Maintain excellent communication across all areas of activity to ensure a responsive and well-run provision

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has qualification of Level 5 in Mental Health or equivalent or BSc Psychology or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a mental health support setting, or delivering treatment to clients, liaising and consulting with Commissioners, CMHTs, CPNs, GPs and community providers
  • Experience of either managing or coordinating referrals and waiting lists
  • Experience of managing and supervising mental health support staff from different backgrounds
  • Experience of monitoring staff performance via case management; capacity management and monitoring staff recovery data
  • Experience of change management, service evaluation and service improvement
  • Experience in developing services to respond to Service User needs
  • Experience in managing and delivering to the expected performance targets
  • Excellence and experience in IT and diary management that support own and the service’s clinical resources

You will undertake risk assessments and develop individual support plans to enable members to build confidence and develop skills and hobbies to live independent lives. You will also be responsible for providing person centred support and will maintain up to date computerised and manual records.

Our successful Team Leader will have:

  • Experience of working with individuals with complex and enduring Mental Health diagnosis
  • an understanding of the Recovery Model of Support
  • Experience of supervising and motivating a team of support staff to deliver the Recovery Model of Support and developing their skills and knowledge
  • Working knowledge of safeguarding procedures and adhering to health and safety practices
  • Confidence and knowledge to be able to liaise with professionals, both internally and externally to ensure the wellbeing of individuals and the service
  • Ideally you would have or be interested in working towards your Level 5 in Health and Social Care or Mental Health and Wellbeing Awareness or equivalent

Leading by good example, you will give clear direction and support to the team members and volunteers. You will be responsible for making day to day decisions on operational and member matters, this includes processing new referrals and have responsibility for the budget in conjunction with the Manager.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has an understanding of complex mental health conditions and the needs and particular issues that people may face
  • Is a great communicator
  • Has experience working in a mental health service either in the community or a clinical setting
  • Can multi-task and be proactive
  • Experience of leading and managing teams

Mental Health Support Worker – Watford

The Community Support Worker role involves supporting clients with mental ill health at the centre and in the community across Hertfordshire, as well as supporting them to engage in activities training and opportunities.

You will be working as part of a team to provide community services and opportunities to adults with mental health problems, their carers, and the wider community.     

We deliver individually tailored programmes/activities and support people to meet their agreed personal goals and work in partnership with other community based services and service providers to ensure synergy across services.

As part of the role you will act as a key worker for individual service users, compile reports and participate in reviews as appropriate.

You will produce and maintain documentation including Star Recovery Plans, daily records, incident and accident forms and contribute to quarterly reports.

Our service promotes recovery, independence and social contact and provides a signposting service for people who access our services.

Community Support Worker – Ware

Job Title: Community support worker

Salary: £9.50/hour + travel reimbursement

Basis: Permanent

Location: Guideposts are based at 3-5 Cross Street, Ware

The role will involve working with small groups of service users in East Herts/Broxbourne and supporting them to access a range of community facilities and activities.

Hours: 12 hours per week – 6hrs on Mondays, 6hrs on Tuesdays between 5-10PM (+planning/admin time on the same or different days)

Guideposts is a UK based charity working with people in local communities, to help them access the support, opportunities and skills they need to overcome social challenges, improve their wellbeing and change their lives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Friendship Scheme team as a Community Support Worker in Ware and surrounding areas.

You will provide direct support to small groups of adults with learning difficulties and enable them to access community leisure facilities and activities.

The Guideposts Friendship Scheme support adults with learning disabilities to meet new people and develop meaningful relationships through a wide range of services supporting adults with learning disabilities, including one-to-one befriending, regular social groups, art and exercise clubs, and occasional outings and events. The scheme currently operates in St Albans, Harpenden, Stevenage and North Hertfordshire.

Our successful Support Worker will:

  • Deliver all aspects of individuals support plans including personal care and manual handling where appropriate
  • Assessment of service users’ needs and accumulate and record knowledge of personal circumstances
  • Act as a key worker for individuals or a small number of service users and compile reports as appropriate including reporting the impact of services for individuals and the meeting of outcomes and goals

Bank Support Worker – Ware

JOB Title: Bank Support Workers

We are looking for people who are able to work independently and proactively to ensure a safe and happy environment for the people who access our services.

Typically you will work one to one or with small groups of people who attend our projects. We work Monday to Friday with some evening social projects too.

You will be experienced at managing situations and behaviours that challenge, Experience of working with vulnerable people and/or children would be an advantage.

You will provide assistance with care and personal support in order to support the people we work with to attain their full potential, maximise options available and encourage choice, participation and motivation.

Senior Support Worker – Oxfordshire

Job Title: Senior Support Worker

Salary: £19,890 per annum

Location: across all services in Oxfordshire

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Our services offer a range of social and skill-based activities for adults with learning disabilities, mobility impairments and other conditions. Alongside cooking, fitness, craft and music, gardening we also go on trips in the local area.

Purpose of the role:

To support the Operational Manager in the management of staff, volunteers and activities of the GLADS, Dig’N’Grow, the Albion, giving support to Team Leaders to ensure a high standard of service delivery.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and directly deliver activities across of the services
  • Carry out assessments to establish suitability of the service for potential new service users
  • Review support plans or personal development plans with service users to ensure that activities are person-centred
  • Liaise with organisations and the local authority as appropriate to support the needs of individuals using the day services
  • Contribute to service development and growth
  • Contribute to evaluation of service performance
  • Take advantage of appropriate opportunities to promote and raise awareness of the services and increase attendance
  • Deputise for Operational Manager and Team Leaders when required to ensure adequate staff agency and volunteer service cover on a day-to-day basis
  • Support and develop staff and volunteers to maximise their strengths

We are looking for someone who:

  • Able to support a team and to work as part of a team
  • Able to efficiently plan and arrange services and activities with the team
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels, with excellent verbal and written skills
  • Able to build and maintain productive internal and external relationships
  • Able to be assertive and patient in complex situations
  • Have experience working with adults who have learning disabilities
  • Have experience working in health or social care setting
  • Have full driving licence
  • Have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification

Guideposts is a UK based charity working with people in local communities, to help them access the support, opportunities and skills they need to overcome social challenges, improve their wellbeing and change their lives.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our popular services in Witney, where we offer a range of social and skill-based activities for adults with learning disabilities and related conditions.

Alongside activities to improve life skills and wellbeing, including cooking, fitness, craft and music, gardening in our outdoor wellbeing centre, and we also go on trips in the local area.

We are looking for creative, motivated and adaptable community focussed support workers to help us to deliver our exciting projects across West Oxfordshire.

You will need to:

  • Work as part of a small but dedicated team but also will be comfortable working using your own initiative
  • Have experience of working with people and/or children with a learning disability
  • Be enthusiastic
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver activities which provide a variety of experiences for our members
  • Have basic IT Skills

Full training will be given in relation to the job requirements.

NVQ 2/3 or equivalent is desirable.

All posts are subject to interview, DBS check and pre-employment checks.

Hours of work: various hours and days on a bank /casual basis

Salary: £9.50/hour
