Fun on the race track

For some people, riding a bike is as easy as, well, riding a bike. For others, cycling can be a daunting and impossible task. Having learning or physical disabilities can make it difficult for some people to balance and pedal efficiently.

When members from The Albion, our centre in Chipping Norton for adults with learning disabilities and related conditions, mentioned they hadn’t been on a bike ride before, Team Leader Steph wanted to make their dreams become a reality.

Cyclability at Horspath Oxford, have a large selection of adapted bikes, in a variety of styles and configurations to accommodate different needs and abilities. Thanks to Cyclability, our members were given the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom of riding a bike. There was a bike for everyone!

“Riders, on your bikes, ready, set, go!”

The group were able to ride comfortably and confidently without worrying about losing their balance. The pedals allowed a smooth and easy ride and the brakes meant they could control their speed and stop safely whenever they needed to.

The group spent an hour whizzing around the race track, with the windy weather adding to their speeds! They enjoyed being outside in the fresh air and it was great exercise and a confidence boost!

After doing laps that Chris Hoy would be proud of, the group enjoyed a nice cup of tea and some biscuits.

If you would like to help people with learning disabilities to have more life-changing experiences, you can support us at Never Seen, Never Been.

Big smiles on the race track.”
